By Nick Thompson, Chair of the CHSA
Creating value for members means more than providing services and benefits. We must also represent their best interests, influencing policy makers and those directing the structure of our industry.
A single voice is quiet and easy to ignore. By joining the CHSA, every member benefits from the collective power of a trade association. Their voice is amplified.
By working closely with the British Cleaning Council (BCC) and other trade associations, we are making sure members’ concerns and priorities are represented with government, regulators and key stakeholders across the cleaning and hygiene sector. Working collectively in this way, members gain greater influence over issues that affect their businesses. The information flow needs to be two-way. As well as having influence, members need information. They need an early awareness of policy and regulatory changes. However, for this to be real value we must know and understand their concerns to advocate on their behalf. Elected from within our membership our Governing Council is key to sharing insight and directing our focus.
For distributor members, the power of collaboration extends beyond representation. By bringing distributors together, the CHSA creates opportunities to collectively influence manufacturers and hold them accountable to the standards our industry demands. This strengthens commercial relationships, supports transparency and helps ensure the quality and consistency customers expect.
For manufacturing members, collective action is equally valuable. The CHSA provides a platform to challenge rogue business practices, including spurious product claims and the supply of inadequate products. By protecting the integrity of the market, we help level the playing field for responsible manufacturers who invest in quality, compliance and innovation.
The CHSA’s strength comes from its members. The more we work together, the more influence we have and the more value we can create. By speaking with one voice, we can shape the future of our industry and ensure our members are well positioned for the opportunities and challenges ahead.
