Apply now to get financial support for young people going to university
The search for three motivated and talented young people to receive financial support from the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association’s 2022 Undergraduate Bursary is now on.
The successful applicants will join the 14 young people who have already benefited from the financial support. The Bursary is £4,500. It is paid in three installments, £1,500 being paid at the beginning of each academic year or the first three years if the degree is longer.
With this extra financial support, the recipients have been able to make the most of all that university has to offer. Molly Black was successful in 2021. Explaining the value to her of the Bursary, Molly said: “It has allowed me to have an independent and exciting experience at university. I used it to buy a new laptop, a railcard (I travel to and from university each day), stationery and folders, and for funding my travel and module books. I love university; I’ve already learnt so many valuable skills.”
The CHSA Undergraduate Bursary is open only to the children of employees of CHSA members.
David Garcia, Vice President and Treasurer of the CHSA, renewed the Undergraduate Bursary programme in 2016. He said: “The Bursary is a wonderful way to give something back to the people who work hard in our sector.
“Every year, it’s a wonderful to meet the talented young people. They are bright and enthusiastic and give us confidence that the future is in safe hands. Selecting the final three is never easy but we are very much looking forward to meeting them and hearing about their plans for their course and university.”
Applicants must be 18 years or over on 1 September 2022 and commencing their higher education studies this autumn. They will be assessed according to need, worthiness, endeavour and overall performance. Each successful applicant will also bring something unique, their ‘x-factor’.
Applying is simple. Eligible young people need to visit the CHSA website and click on the link on the Bursary page. The form includes a 400-word statement and it is advisable to draft the statement prior to accessing the form.
The closing date for applications is Friday 1 July 2022. Shortlisted applicants need to be available to meet the judging panel, to be led by CHSA Vice President David Garcia, on Wednesday 20 July and Thursday 21 July 2022. The successful applicants will be notified by Friday 29 July.
